Searching for professors and tea

Today I was late in meeting Xiao Hui for lunch because I was watching the last episode of Hello! Miss. Sorry man. Just as I thought the weather would get warmer in the coming days, it actually snowed this morning!! It was nice to see it snowing, but having to tolerate the cold is another thing..

Lunch in school was 2 large sausages and whipped potatoes. Of course, there were the usual sides - I took 2 slices of bread, one with margarine, the other with a creamy...cream that seems to be garlic spread. Both were nice, and the bread itself was good too. I also took salad (onions and oranges are a strange combination, but it's really fine) and milk.

We spent some time looking for our professors regarding the modules we were interested in. As I couldn't find any of my professors, I emailed them all in the end. Some brought good news, others, not so... But everything will have to work out somehow, so I'll see how it goes for now.

After school, we went to a place called 'Sale'. I believe the Finns would call it SA-LE. I dunno. Anyway, 'ale' means 'sale' in finnish. Compared to Tokmanni, Sale looks cleaner and more high class, kind of like NTUC. But most things sold there are slightly more expensive.

When I was about to step into my room, Sam (my French neighbour) caught me and persuaded me to go to his room for tea. Well, it was a good opportunity to socialize and find out what modules he was interested in as he is in the same department as I am. So I brought my bread and ham over to his place. He supplied cookies/biscuits that he baked the day before and tea. The box of dark things are candy that he said was shit. Haha...

He warned me that the cookies were hard. I tried them and indeed, they were rock hard. So I was crushing them with my molars. There isn't anything too tough for my teeth, and I have to say that they were very nice! Sweet and a little buttery. Some people would probably find it a little too sweet, but it was to my liking.

Deciding what modules to take

Shortly after, he left the room and I heard, "Wei, Wei!" Turns out he was calling me. Ok, I can be called Wei, since it will be easier for them. Our neighbour was about to bake some pasteries. He was an exchange student from Japan, and would be leaving in March.

So I shall now show you what I have learnt.
Step 1: Heat up the oven to 220 degrees C
Step 2: Cut the things (ya lah, my vocab for food is very limited) into squares

10cm x 10cm squares

Step 3: Slit the corners of the squares as shown below
Step 4: Put a lump of jam (any flavour will do) in the middle and fold it like this
It's a decorative feature

Step 5: Place it in the oven for 10 minutes
Step 6: Eat and enjoy!

The pretty flaky end product! Dunno what it is called.

So we had more food to go with our cookies, bread, ham and tea. Turned out to be a great tea! We chatted till about 6pm, and we helped to clean up and headed back to our rooms. There, I tried to organise the modules I would be taking and see what my time table looks like. So far, nothing much is finalised. Since I had tea, my dinner was much later than usual - about 8.45 pm. My room mate allowed me to use his seasonings and here is minced pork with chopped onions in black pepper and light soy sauce. Good food. Haha.. That was the last onion I have, and the last portion of minced meat. So it's back to Tokmanni soon.

Now I'm off to shower, pack, watch the first episode of My Girl (which is another Korean drama!) and sleep.
