I can’t believe I actually woke up at 7.50am this morning after sleeping at 1am last night (I was watching the drama again). Seeing that I had nothing to do, I decided to go to campus to use the internet. There, I logged on to MSN and was disappointed to find that my family was not online. But in less than a minute, my brother came online!!!
We started chatting, and my mom was beside him. As I was in the library, it was not convenient for me to on my speaker and hear my mother’s voice, nor was it convenient for me to speak. I really hope the internet connection will be settled tomorrow afternoon. So, we could only make do with seeing the video of each other, but it was good enough already.
Later, I met Jukka-Pekka, Xiao Hui, Lulu and Karina for lunch. The food is really not bad, and I wonder why Jukka-Pekka doesn’t seem to like it. Haha… And poor Xiao Hui is restricted from eating beef, so her choices are always limited.
We went to see the various coordinators for the different departments in engineering to see if they are able to help Xiao Hui regarding her studies in the University. Then, we attended a briefing for Electrical and Information Engineering, which is the NUS equivalent of Electrical Engineering. It is kind of troublesome, as we have to take a short course on how to use the programs in their workstations, and there will be some sort of test at the end.
Furthermore, the Electrical and Information Engineering Department requires all students to apply for a special key that gives them access to the premises and facilities. A deposit of EUR 20 has to be paid, and we were told to maintain a Finnish bank account for as long as we could as the deposit will be returned to that account. Now what if I leave Finland before the deposit is returned???
Oh yes, forgot to mention that there is a lot of static in my room. In the morning, when I remove my blanket, there will be sparks. Since it is so dark, they can be seen very clearly. I should probably take a video of it.
Dinner was rice and stir fried minced meat, hot dog, lettuce and onions in light soy sauce. Actually my dinners are just whatever I have and just dumped together. But the result was not bad. Of course they’re not as nice as my mom’s or dad’s cooking. I wish to be able to eat whatever my parents cook now, though it has just been a week since I left…
